Once a person suffers from this, a person has to take medicines for the rest of his life, but these medicines also have side effects on the body.

Ayurvedic perspective of Hypertension

Hypertension (known as RaktaGataVata in Ayurveda) is elevated pressure of the blood in the arteries. The increase in blood pressure depends upon a person’s age, sex, physical and mental activities, family history, and diet.

Normal blood pressure of a healthy adult individual is 120 mmHg systolic and 80 mmHg diastolic.

Hypertension treatment in Ayurveda has a longterm and deeper impact because instead of controlling symptoms, it treats the root cause of the problem.

Unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyles are the chief causes of hypertension today. This creates toxins (ama) and it narrows blood vessels. Therefore the blood has to exert more pressure to circulate, leading to the condition of high blood pressure.
